I am trying out a ZF lens on my 5D2 & need good adapter recommendations, please.

I think I have a cheap generic one in my cabinet (freebie that was with other stuff). It would be nice to have a chipped one to program focal length for EXIF data.

Tank Om!

If it's 50mm or above, it shouldn't make a huge difference for a trial. Wider and I'd look at fotodiox pro at least, just for the ease of return if it's too thick for infinity. If you keep the lens, Leitax.

Thanks Brad - it is a 25, sounds like an adapter upgrade is in order.

I have a Fotodiox Pro adapter (bought in 2008) and while it fits my Nikkor 20/4 perfectly, it didn't fit the ZF 25/2.8 well at all. Terrible (and unfixable) rotational play. I hope you have better luck...

I use the Novoflex adapter for G lenses, I find it very usefull to switch between max aperture and a given one (often f/5.6). I set the desired aperture on the lens and then use the adapter to change between wide open and the pre-set aperture. That's really fast and I can do it while keeping the eye on the viewfinder.
Also the built quality is great and there is no play at all. Much better than any other adapter I have

I also saw cheap chinese knock-off on ebay, it might be worth a try.

Hi Michelle,

I'd go directly to a Leitax mount for a 25mm lens. I use Fotodiox Pro adapters (with no FC chips) for my CY Planar 50/1.7 and 85/1.4. I just ordered Leitax kits for my 28/2.8 and 35-70/3.4. My Distagon 21/2.8 is a ZE version. The Leitax kit on my CV 20/3.5 SL II gives noticeably better IQ than the Fotodiox Pro (less left-right asymmetry), and the Fotodiox Pro was way better than a generic eBay adapter.

There are two styles of C/Y mount, "wide" and "narrow". The Leitax site shows you how to tell which style you have,

Thanks AhamB, Romain, and Jim!

There is a Novoflex on the B&S that I will inquire about - Romain, I like your idea for using the G. That sounds very useful.

As well, the Leitax adapters for Nikon > EOS are reasonably priced... Lots of good options, here. I see why the ZF's are EOS friendly.

I had a Big_IS from ebay and a Fotodiox I bought of Amazon and they were both really nice, no play and the chip had focus confirmation.

What lenses are you using on yours? ZF's or Nikkors?

I'm using a Rayqual Nik-EOS on my ZF25 and the build quality is about the best I've ever seen. Not cheap but worth it.

I was lucky that I found some going second hand.

I've also used Leitax on my various Leica R lenses but found the Leitax a tad too thin on the wide angles.

Meaning they focus slightly past infinity(?).

My Leitax Nikon > EOS is bang on for infinity focus, with my CZ 20/3.5 SL II>

I had all sorts of trouble trying to get my R28 performing to a decent level on the Leitax, when I emailed David he suggested that the Leitax is made a tiny bit thin to allow for most combinations of lens/body.

I was getting poor results at the edges and corners.
I've since changed to a Novoflex adapter and started to get better results - some of that though may be down to user experience. I've found now that I get the best result on the R28 for general distance shots by focussing right at the infinity stop.

+1 for Novoflex. Have seen more precise fit ZF2 lens with 5DII body than with EOS lenses However no experience with chip.
Not so good experiences with Leitax adapters, somehow 1 screw position has been wrong (3 adapters with 5 lenses C/Y to EOS actually, my be different in case NIK-EOS).

Thanks again, everyone. I managed to snag the Novoflex Nik G > EOS adapter on the buy & sell so I should be all set. Woot! I hope the ZF.1's work out well for me. The price is definitely right~
