I'm sorry to hear that your understanding or experience of life is that you can only fit in work, posting on forums and taking photos. You'll be interested to know that I am a qualified and practicing pilot, I go to the gym 4 times a week, watch my brother play football on Saturdays, and enjoy time with my beautiful partner and my family and friends.
I have an extremely busy, active and fulfilling life. I am however grateful for your concern.

I'm damn near 35 years old and don't think that the OP's posting was immature. He was just starting a discussion about how the Canon folks were handling the issue.
Imagine how this world would be with NO discussion.
Edit: Posting a link like that is simply to help users know where the info was coming from. Without it would have resulted in a bunch of "which thread are you talking about" posts.
Indeed, and thanks for the support. For all those who didn't see my thread on the Canon board....

Had I been able to handle or afford the D3s I wouldn't likely have made this purchase. The form factor of the D800 works for me. It actually is a few ounces lighter than the D700, so I'm smiling at that. Check out the Manual Focus Nikon Glass thread in a few weeks you may find some observations. I'll likely also chime in to a more general thread with observations about how MF glass does with the large sensor. I'm curious myself.
I'm ready to come back. I estimated it will cost me about the same money to get a Nikon kit vs upgrading to a 5d3. the drawback is ill only have one body.

I do find it funny that the D800's reception seems a lot warmer on the Canon boards than the Nikon's
As I said Nikon needs to start releasing bodies with the EOS lens mount and Canon needs to start released bodies with whatever the Nikon lens mount is called. And then the gear forums will dry up and a week with 1 post will be a lively week.
(that said going to another forum for sole purpose to troll is a bit much though and who knows maybe the 5D3 will actually not end up being completely crippled by Canon marketing)
I posted there. I am a lifetime Canon user. I preordered an 800E this morning. I don't really care about Nikon v Canon.
I have owned Mamiya 7II, Mamiya 645AD, Bronica, Pentax 645N, Cambo Wide, Toyo AII, Toyo 45CX, etc.
If Canon updates the 5D3 before the 800E ships I'll stick with Canon. I love my Canon lenses. I'm a bit disappointed when I look at the Nikon offerings, but I'll make do.
But the bottom line is - what do you expect, comparing a 3 year old 5DII to a camera that was just announced? Remember when Nikon said APS sized sensors were ther future, forghet full frame?
And who cares about a bunch of fan boys whining on either side? I'm a professional, I've been doing photpgraphy since at least 1973. I could care less about Nikon, Apple, Canon, PC.
