p.28 #1 · 5Dx in the wild?

Thats unlikely to be a 100 per cent crop, look at the perspective on the lights in the background. If it IS a 100 per cent crop then that would be extraordinarily good at very high ISO!

Hmmm, I'm not totally floored even if it is a crop in regards to level of detail. As far as I recall, the sensor in D7000 should have almost the same pixel size as 36 MP in a full frame, and the D7000 is at least doing as well IMHO:

Anyway, I don't think this photo is truely showing anything about how good the D800 sensor will handle high ISO.

^ Agree.

Just be sure you see the whole 6 MP crop. Looks like heavy NR and sharpening, and some motion blur to boot.....

Anyway, the gear fun is on the dark side the coming week, and the 5Dx is still in the wild....

Because it is a film poster the picture may have been produced using a stil from the video.

Nikon rumors wrote further:
"Update: as several readers have mentioned the comments section, Shinji Watanabe's flickr stream contains at least one image with a maximum/original resolution of 7360 x 4912"

Did somebody here see/find that image?

Ups! I did not find it. Is it available in 36MP?
NR says it was removed 4 hours after posting to flicker.

It's 36MP, if you click the image I've posted that's the full size 36MP jpeg. Somebody has saved it thus the link.

When I save it it turns out as a 6MP file. What do I do wrong?

The image for the film (poster) certainly looked like a still grab from the video stream. There was some very noticable 'ghosting' in portions of the image. It did not appear to be consistent with any sort of motion blur found in a still image.

The full 36mp image posted on flickr was also kinda lousy. The exif had been stripped so it wasn't useful for assessing noise (not to mention there was no indication of what processing may or may not have been accomplished). Additionally there was some very noticable motion blur which made it impossible to assess fine detail.

Not sure, I've saved one before and opened it on CS5 it shows 36MP, anyway it's only 5 more days to wait .

Good question :-)
I did not see this picture mentioned in the Nikon Gear Forum jet.

But why not? Its not that famous. The 5D III was shifted to 28th of february meanwhile, Delivery April. Unnecassary to say it is still a rumor?

Again and again: Where are some ISO 50K 1D X pics?

Well actually there are 2 D800,s released. I am wondering if the rumour mills are correct. They were with Nikon so maybe the 5D 3 will be the reported 56MP.

Canon is an underdog in this game. It's so hard to beat all you can eat Nikon D800 buffer. I don't see how Canon do it for $2999

Well, back to Canon EOS 5D MK III/X:
Northlight, for me the most accurate rumor site came with a new one yesterday:

"20th We've hearing of NDAs expiring on the 2nd of March.
Now we also hear of a 5D3 (and only a 5D3) spec for a launch on the 2nd

22MP, 6fps, 61 focus points (41 cross) same as 1DX system
100-25600 Basic ISO 1024k dots LCD display 3:2 wide (or 3.2" ?)
Best Video quality in a DSLR."
