I'm looking to upgrade, but I'm not sure if Pro 1 gear is compatibility with a Pro 2 body. Does anyone know? thanks.

All the lenses and backs are compatible across both models. The Pro II needs the Winder II (not really a big deal, winders are $20). All of the non-metered finders are compatible. The AE prism finder (I) and the chimney finder need to be modified by Mamiya in order to be compatible with the II, although I suppose that one could tape over the contacts and use them as 'dumb' finders. All of the II equipment (save the winder) is backwards compatible with the RZ Pro I.

Wow. I have never heard of a winder. I looked it up, it automatically winds to the next negative. Is that a necessary thing? Couldn't I just do that manually?

I might just stick to a Pro 1 body. Thanks for your help.

Of course. The winder is nice though. I tended to use it rather than wind manually. It's no big deal, unless you need to carry the camera any distance as it's already very heavy.

Be sure to only buy film inserts, that correspond to your body.

(don't ask!)

The shells that hold the inserts, however, will work on any one of the three models: the RZ, RZII and RZIID.

The winder is great - very handy. I don't use the RZ without it, generally. The backs are interchangable (I and II) but the inserts are unique to a given back - so a I insert won't fit a II back. But a I or II back will fit a I or II camera. II backs have some nice functionality improvements but I backs are actually more rugged and have a slightly higher build quality I think.

the II body only adds a few things, none of which are really crucial. The AEII prism gives half-stop shutter speeds (one thing the II body adds directly). About the only other useful thing is the geared fine focus wheel, but you can definitely do fine without it. I have a I and II body, and really unless you get a great price on a II, the I is fine. The AEII prism, Winder, and L-grip are worthwhile and useful upgrades. So is a brightscreen -makes a nice difference.

With the AE-11 prism you get 1/6th of a stop control...they designed this during the film era for precise exposure control with chrome film. The AE-11 prism is awesome and although I really enjoyed composing on the big ground glass the prism makes everything big and bright. The only thing better of course is the rotating film back.

In rz 67 prospectus i see a rotating film back. So what is better against what?

2. Can I really use winder II on rz67?

3. be aware-someone on ebay is selling prospectus(with no shipping costs), but its pdf(not expensive) but one can get this on butkus.org.
