Two of those are correct as they are contracted acronyms.

Technically those are initialisms, not acronyms. There's better grammatical justification for them being written FAQs or HDTVs, in lieu of what's above.

Each component word is understood to be contracted, not just "TeleVisions" or "Questions".
Placing an apostrophe and the end of an initialism in this case would be an erroneous conversion to possession unless it were indeed indicative of possession.

For example: "the HDTV's tuner went on the fritz."

Then again, in British English acronyms and the like don't capitalize en masse like we do in our, ya know, loose-y goose-y Amairicuhn English. But they do capitalize initialisms, having usually dispensed with periods like we did quite some time again.

Like when our grandfathers might be disposed to write out "Ra.D.A.R.", decades ago.

It's nearly moot by this point anyway, English is undergoing some some interesting changes given its worldwide spread and in part, becoming the de facto lingua franca of most multi-cultural human endeavors. In addition, confusing things like irregular verbs, past participles, possession, abbreviation, etc. are laid out for all to see and perhaps think "that's odd!"

Language is alive, and I make my fair share of screwups for sure.

You're right, initial.

Hooligan, I tell you, once Dan Quayle wrote "potatoe" [sic] I was screwed up for about two years. My left brow would always arch upon reaching the final few letters...

"Hmmm, -o? -oe? Hmm..."

Bah, silly linguists and their linguistic(k)-y-ness.

What can I say? Sister Maria hammered home the grammar.

What's wrong, the apostrophe's?
I think that's almost only non-native English speakers making that mistake, because apostrophes are used for (certain) plurals in a number of languages.

no, i'm a native speaker (for those who consider american english to count) and i use apostrophes all the time because i don't like to capitalize anything i type in web fora or emails. the apostrophe helps separate the string of nonsense lowercase letters from their pluralization. if i want to spell things correctly and use correct grammar, i'll chisel it in stone and have someone deliver it to you.

Honest question:

So what separates a "mirrorless" body from a rangefinder body ... that would be of significance for determining proper nomenclature such as EVF or E-rangefinder rather than the oxymoron of "mirrorless DSLR"

A rangefinder typically has an optical rangefinder mechanism as the primary means of focusing. It uses mechanically coupled lenses and triangulation to determine focusing. There are advantages to this (ND Filters, no darkening whilst stopping down with manual lenses, no blackout) over other mirrorless systems, but also other limitations (parallax, MFD).

Now that this term is in the B+H catalog, there will be no way back. Better get used to it for eternity.

I'm not sure who writes the copy for the catalog, but I just had to come here and point out that this is a rather unfortunate oxymoron and a corruption of the meaning of "SLR." An SLR is an SLR precisely because it has a mirror; hence the term "reflex mirror." There's no "reflex" involved if there's no mirror.

Good point. FWIW, on our web site the genre's called Mirrorless System Cameras.
