the contax g 35/2 (costs $400-$500) is probably better than cv 40/1.4 in everything except focus feel and largest aperture. the lens morfeus refers to is the more modern zm 35/2.8, which is even slower but optically better than the contax (costs around $800). some other options would be the leica summicron 40/2 (~$500), cv 35/1.7 (~$500), pen f 38/1.8 (~$150), 40/1.4 (~$300), or 42/1.2 (~$600). the summicron and cv 35/1.7 are good all rounders, the pens are extremely sharp but lower in contrast and suffer more from field curvature. if you're willing to go a little longer the contax g 45/2 ($400-$500) beats all of them in most areas except for the zm 35/2.8. then there is also a ton of slr lenses, but those are all much bigger.
