p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · I need a good C/Y - EOS adapter, help!

Hi everyone, I have several Zeiss contax T* lens, I have used an EMF AF confirm C/Y-EOS adapter, the AF confirm work great but the adapter was not tigh fit. I search on ebay and see many EMF C/Y-EOS adapter and I do not know which has good quality and fit tight.
Anyone has experience of C/Y-EOS, please give me some advice.

Thank you.

If your adapter doesn't fit the lens well, you can do often do something about it. See the last section on this page: http://www.pebbleplace.com/Personal/Contax_db_Adapters_1.html

Fotodiox pro is available both with and without a focus confirmation chip. I prefer without.

I agree with John (crazeazn) thet Leitax is the best, but I think it's only worth the higher expense for wide and ultra-wide angle lenses, and possibly also for heavy lenses, say 300/2.8 & larger.

I have several of the Fotodiox C/Y to EOS and Pentax to EOS with focus confirmation for my 30D and they worked great for a week or so. Then I started having erratic focus behavior with the camera. Even when I switched back to Canon lenses, it still wouldn't focus properly. Just hunts and hunts. At first, this was only temporary and can be fixed by doing a cold reset of the camera. I continued using it, foolishly thinking I could just reset things if it happens again. Eventually the camera wouldn't focus at all. Had to send to Canon to replace the focusing mechanism.

I've since ripped out all the chips from the adapters and just focus manually. The adapters work well in this manner and aren't loose at all. If you have good focusing screen, I suggest just getting the adapter without the chip.

Maybe I had a bad batch of adapters, or may be my camera failed by coincidence. I'm just sharing my experience. Be careful.

Thanks for the info. I'll be using it on manual contax lenses so would that be different?

Fotodiox Pro ... I wasn't impressed with regular Fotodiox (F-EOS) I used once.

I have two happypagehk CY-EOS Pro adapters that I like a lot. I would strongly recommend them. Sometimes Rudy doesn't have them listed on his ebay page (happypagehk), but if you send him an email he will let you know when he can ship you one. Usually the wait isn't very long if one isn't listed.

I believe you get what you pay for - so here is another vote for Fotodiox Pro - mine are without the focus chip.

@AhamB: thank you so much, that link is really useful. I have visited peppleplace many time but I have never read carefully.

@Steve Spencer: I have read many topic about HappypageHK adapter, but I can not found his adapter on ebay, and I do not know his email address. Can you tell me his email address. Thank you.

@jcolwell, RustyBug, dbehrens: I have visited photodiox website several time, I have never bought C/Y-EOS adapter from them. Is it tight fit? Does AF confirm work well?

I found this on Fotodiox website: http://www.fotodiox.com/product_info.php?products_id=36.
Is it the same as EMF AF confirm adapter? (set aperture, focal length, and micro adjustment)

I think so. The store is still there on ebay, he just doesn't have any stock right now. I bought 2 adapters from him in March.

What kind of chip does he use? Can I set it's focal length, micro adjustment...? and How much is it?

The chip on my adapters are the Optix V5 and I like them a lot. I find them easier to program than the dandelion chips, but both are very nice. You can set the focal length and widest aperture and you might be able to do micro adjust, but I don't know I have never bother to try with my chips. I paid something like $90 for the adapter with the AF confirmation chip.
