I apologize in advance NikonEM, as I'm getting nitpicky and/or wet blanket-y from reading too much APUG lately, but to set the record straight:
1. Those have been around at least a 18 months, perhaps longer. But a certain maturity level assumes "new to me" often means "wow, new to EVERYBODY, sing it!!!"
I was like this in my twenties. I don't mean you, I mean the referenced website.
2. The sticker emulates a rangefinder, not a single lens reflex camera. They should think critically and think things through before simply replicating "stuff" online, for all to see, if they, like, don't totally like get it, ya know? Whooooa. The first bits of copy read almost word for word from the Wikipedia entry for Leica Camera.
3. They call it "retro" but that specific rangefinder design is from 2006 and higher. This feeds back into points 1 and 2. Look at the "brightness sensor" left and above the red dot, and the lack of a battery cover on the left side. The sticker is aping an M8/M9, which are digital cameras and most certainly not retro. If they actually looked into it, they could couch the "article" in terms of it looking like an esteemed, modern digital rangefinder, with serious brand cachet.
"Curated content" is a bothersome trend, it was one of the reasons I quickly grew weary of Wallpaper magazine back in the '90s as well.
