Thats Like WHOA has one simple goal: to bring the reader short posts featuring the coolest new art, technology and products that will surely make you ‘Whoa’. Created by lovers of art and design, the space is curated with extremely high standards and very few censors. We hope you enjoy. Please spread the word.

I apologize in advance NikonEM, as I'm getting nitpicky and/or wet blanket-y from reading too much APUG lately, but to set the record straight:

1. Those have been around at least a 18 months, perhaps longer. But a certain maturity level assumes "new to me" often means "wow, new to EVERYBODY, sing it!!!"
I was like this in my twenties. I don't mean you, I mean the referenced website.

2. The sticker emulates a rangefinder, not a single lens reflex camera. They should think critically and think things through before simply replicating "stuff" online, for all to see, if they, like, don't totally like get it, ya know? Whooooa. The first bits of copy read almost word for word from the Wikipedia entry for Leica Camera.

3. They call it "retro" but that specific rangefinder design is from 2006 and higher. This feeds back into points 1 and 2. Look at the "brightness sensor" left and above the red dot, and the lack of a battery cover on the left side. The sticker is aping an M8/M9, which are digital cameras and most certainly not retro. If they actually looked into it, they could couch the "article" in terms of it looking like an esteemed, modern digital rangefinder, with serious brand cachet.

"Curated content" is a bothersome trend, it was one of the reasons I quickly grew weary of Wallpaper magazine back in the '90s as well.

"We are cool because we show you cool stuff"

Points well taken. Normally, I do some minimal research before posting "news." I hadn't seen this before so I assumed it was new and decided to post it just to stir up a little fun conversation. Seems I'm as guilty as WHOA concerning curated content. My apologies. If I could give everyone who viewed this their five minutes back, I would.

I don't think he was criticizing you, but the website you linked to. I have also seen it some time ago, but I don't mind.

Yes, sorry about that if it wasn't clear - I was coming down on the website with the silly name and not you. Apologies if it came across as directed at you

('cause you're like....whoooooa!)

No problem. I understood you were not coming down on me personally. Just kicking myself a little for perpetuating the "whoa".
