Browsing around it seems it is only offered with either 14-42 or 17/2.8 kit lenses. As it happens, none of these interests me so I wonder if it can be purchased without a lens.

The answer seems to be no for most of the mirrorless cams, which has helped to keep me from buying one.

Probably not for pre order, but I would imagine they will have a body only option once they are released. All the Pens and G/Gh/GF series have been available body only, but not in as great of numbers as the kits.

Do what I do: buy the kit and sell the lens. I've sold two brand new 28-135's here on FM, from my 40D and 7D kits. I get a little extra money back, and someone gets a cheap new 28-135. Win-win.

I don't know how much the new 14-42 will go for "used", but Olympus' history has been to add $100 to their body price when you buy a kit lens, so it would almost certainly be profitable overall. Heck, you might even be able to sell the 14-42 to KEH for more than $100!

It's available as a body only on ebay, but it's only a bit less then the kit so your probably better off getting it with the kit lens.
