Thanks all for the posts on the beer shot. It was really just for fun while I honestly tried to come up with something that would be suitable and really nice for this WA. You guys all have beautiful shots entered this week and well..lets be honest, pretty aint my thing. However, being part of this weeks exersize did lead me to this shot called "Freedom" I don't expect it to get any votes as it is severely lacking tranquility but it will be added to my collection and I would not have it had I given up on this weeks assignment. Well..that and very loud heavy metal music I hope you enjoy it.

Makes me thirsty! I'm going to have to figure out how you metered that scene at ISO 80 and f/8! Even at 1/125 I'm amazed it didn't get blown out! Did you by chance use an ND filter? In any case....Well scene!

Hi Greg, the metering of this little LX5 is amazing! I thought the same thing just before I framed this. (humm..ND filter??.. I guess not) I shot it in P mode and set the ap to 8.0 as that is stopped down all the way for this camera. Metering was set to multiple. I hate to admit it but when it comes to exposure, color accuracy and white balance, this little guy has my Nikon D80 beat.

I hate to admit it but when it comes to exposure, color accuracy and white balance, this little guy has my Nikon D80 beat.

Well, it does have Leica glass in it! Thanks for the explanation. I've been tempted more than once, and continue to be, to trade all my Nikon gear for a Leica set up.....

I'm sure you know The Lumix Lx5 and the Leica D-Lux 4 are the same camera, so I knew I couldn’t go wrong with the Lx5 even though I really really wanted the Leica. Are you thinking of the M series?

Yeah, but even if I sold every last piece of equipment I have, and I have a decent kit, I'd still be $shy$ of the M9, or even an M8.2....even used. And that's not including glass! Sheesh..

I think the Panasonics are pretty darn awesome cameras. I saw a gal at a street fair selling stunning landscape style shots made with the same camera you have!

But you bring such a creative edge to photography, that I doubt it really matters what camera you use....

You have won 17 challenges so you know how to take a damn good picture. I expect you'd still win if you used a Kodak Box Brownie!
By the way, It's a cracking shot. I just wish I could have had the top half of the beer.

Thank you guys. That really means a lot and I really appreciate it. No matter how you get there, If a picture looks good, it is good. I've always believed that. However, and I know I'm preaching to the choir when I say,.. How you get there is where your gear comes into play. It's a marriage of mechanical, technical and creative. Knowing how to use good gear, gets you to the creative much faster.

Excellent shot Mike, I love how you set the sun in the reflections of the beer mug. Like the others have said, you think about a lot more in your photos than the average photog. That's why you do so well with these assignments. I look forward to seeing what you will have each week.
