I stopped along a country road to snap some photos of a hay field. As I was walking back to my car I heard a voice say "If you would have been here just a few minutes earlier you would have seen a beautiful doe". That's when I met Janice, a lovely woman who despite hard times, has managed to hold on to the family homestead. We talked for about an hour. I learned that Janice has always lived in this house as did her parents. "It was the most beautiful farm in the county" she said with a smile, "and then papa died". Janice was quiet for a while. But then she smiled again and said, "The good Lord has filled my life with a lot of beautiful sunsets!"
You're welcome, and thank you for the reply Vicki. This chance meeting really made me stop and think. The things I tend to complain about are so trivial. Notice the broken window? This house is in the north country where it gets cold, really cold. And this upbeat woman talks about beautiful sunsets! I hope to stop by again some time and visit. My son wants to go along. When we parted I said "I bet you have a treasure trove of life stories to tell don't you?" Janice looked me in the eye and said, "You bet cha, come back and sit for a spell".
