I was wondering if anyone might have some insight here...
I'm sending Nikon a bunch of gear for overhaul. I can pay FedEx to insure it for the full value which is like 10k, it would cost me an extra $70. I have business insurance through Travelers which covers all sorts of things (gear, portfolios, computers, etc) with a $500 deductible. I think I heard that many companies who ship expensive items will insure for their deductible so they don't pay FedEx as much (for insurance) but if a claim must be made FedEx covers the $500 and the rest is covered by the business insurance...?
I will ask my agent tomorrow but thought someone here might know...
...and I know it could depend on the policy...
