I remember back in the 1D2 days how people used to comment that the 1D2 was the best all-around body. It definitely did more than sports and bif.

I had to shoot for a month waiting for a filter to come for the 16-35. I was pretty scared after a long day of dust, 115 degree heat and a couple dozen small arms rounds fired within about six feet of the front of the lens, but thankfully it was still pristine by the time I got a Hoya HD on front of it. I keep 2 extra 77 and 82mm Hoya HD UV filters at all times, and although I haven't cracked one or scratched one too bad yet, better safe than sorry. And I know it's bad but with those filters on, I tend to push my gear a lot harder than I used to. No problems so far though.

I'd love to find a Mark II, IIn, or maybe a Mark III. They are hard to come by here in interior Alaska. These images show one does not need the latest gear to make incredible images.

I've been trying to add a few photos to the thread but so far all I see are the properties (in a string of numbers & characters etc) but they don't open as photos, nor can they be used as links to the photos. Have they changed the rules re adding photos? I had a similar problem about a year ago for a short while & then suddenly I was able to post again.

yeah I am the OP and cant figure out how to post more pics other than the 1st post where you have the image upload thingy...is there something I am missing,want to just add pics from the same source(flash drive) like the 1st post of my pics.

The first one was taken in Vulcan in Southern Alberta. The train was standing in the loop waiting for a northbound to pass. This was shot off the sidewalk where the tracks cross the main street. Google " Vulcan Alberta" it's a pretty cool town!!!!

Second one was at the back of the girlfriends acreage just outside of Red Deer, Central Alberta. The southbound trains are climbing really hard when they come past so it's a good place to photograph.

Third pic was at a nature reserve called the Ellis Bird Farm which is just east of Red Deer. Really nice place to visit and the tea house has good homemade pies.

Last pic is one of the many parks in Red Deer called Bower Ponds.

And as to how does one find a girlfriend with a 1D. We had both lost partners due to cancer and we met a grief group, found out we had a mutual love of photography, went out for coffee and it developed from there. She's an awesome lady
