Which backs can I get for the M AFD?
the original not II or III or DF.

I would prefer not square and the smallest crop factor affordable..

All but the latest generation backs should work on the AFD. Based on the data sheets any Phase P series back should work, all the Sinar backs should work, so should the DM series backs from Leaf & Mamiya. Back compatibility is identical between the AFD and AFDII (lens support changed).

Your best bet is to define 'affordable' then look at your options, if it's anything from the last couple years you'll want to ask the manufacturer to confirm support for the AFD. As long as Affordable's under $10K or so you won't be looking at anything likely to not support your AFD. Frankly if you are looking at something like a P65+ or one of the new IQ180's you're likely to be able to get a bundle with a 645DF and an 80mm for the same price as the bare back.
