I know there are probably a hundred of these on the board but i don't care...

Over the last few years I have tried to like the 70-200 2.8 IS, but it was never sharp enough for me. After trying 2 copies and multiple trips to CPS I decided I would be better off using primes and pick up a 135L to see how it would work. I ended up using it as my workhorse portrait and wedding lens along with the 50 and 16-35... it is amazing the bokeh, sharpness, contrast, and over all IQ are phenomenal. Since the mark 2 came I have been saving and thought I would give it a try. I just got it in the mail yesterday and took it to an E-session last night...and all I can say is WOW. It is amazing, finally a 70-200 that I am happy with!

Anyone on the fence about paying 2500 bucks for a new mkII, if you are considering it...go for it. You will be happy!

I will admit it is weird going from the small light size of the 135, to the seeminly hugh 70-200...its not a small difference. But it is totally worth it.

The IS for video is amazing too! I was shooting at 200mm on my 5d2 and it looked like I was on a tripod. just amazing!

OK im going to shut up now and get back to editing so I can post some images.

Yup ... I gave up my 100-400L because I think the 70-200L II + TC serves me better.

Andrew,
I had 70-200 f2.8 Non-IS and I used it happily it for years until I tried my friend’s 70-200 IS MkII. Yes it is a great lens and my favourite.

Your claims of Canon making a recent, relevant, and "friggin awesome" lens have me totally confounded!!! I don't believe you!!!

Just kidding!!! I relinquished ownership of 2 Magic Drainpipes within weeks of each other for the opportunity to pick up one!!! And...It's SO FRIGGIN Awesome...(Sorry Mike and Ian...)

Count me in on 70-200MKII. No matter the settings it delivers. It has no weakness. With marki I have to be very careful not to shoot wide open at 200mm at least my copy. I shoot markii wide open most of the time. It is as sharp as my 135L.

Really!? That makes me happy. I was considering getting a 1.4x tc to use and I think I might do it. I mean you can get the mk2 tc for like 200 bucks!

Couldn't agree more. I used a Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 EX DG APO for a lot of years, and really liked it. But I finally sprung for a 70-200 f/2.8L IS II just before the price increases in January, and I can't believe what a fabulous lens it is.

Oka, that is a very well posed, interesting and colourful portrait. Well done.

Also, Shane's last portrait is very very cool.

Thank you. I am digging yours also. I get hired to shoot a lot of runway models but I struggling with it. I don't know how you guys do it.

...thanks Peter...here is one more of that model...she had the poses down and was really working the runway (have a bunch of her in different outfits, all very well done). And since you know my kid, the next in the silver is her as model, and the last two with the blonde is a dress my kid actually designed, made, and made the final jury cut for the show--fashion design is her main gig, modeling is just for fun.

Obviously a talented and good looking young woman.
