Hi there!

I've just bought Nikon MB-D10 battery grip for my Nikon D700, and I just can't shoot at 8fps. I know that because I've used the bracketing trick for getting 8fps without grip before and it was lot faster. I have 8x AA's in the grip.

Things I've tried:

- setting up RAW to 12bit
- reattaching the batteries
- setting up MB-D10 battery to use up first
- reading manual ( )

I really need help, in few day's I am leaving for a trip to Spain to shoot a great Downhill event and I kinda need 8fps and the long lasting battery .

Thanks.

have you set the camera to use the grip battery first?

Herb...

That's correct...... You need to use the D2 series battery in the D700 - which requires buying a special tray for the grip. Sorry to give you the bad news. but if you get that - then 8fps is possible.

Depends what lens you also have. I just threw my battery pack in with the 8 AA's to try your case and with my Sigma 15-30mm F3.5-4.5 only 5 FPS. I placed my Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 EX DG and now it shows 8FPS. Remember to adjust your frame capture from CL -> CH on your dial.

Your question just showed me something new, cool. Now I know too. So I'm going to assume some CPU lenses are too slow for 8FPS.

Thanks for an answer.

What do you mean by D2 series battery?
With MB-D10 comes 2 different battery trays, one for 8x AA's and second for EN-EL4a Nikon battery.

At the moment I'm using 50mm 1.8 Nikkor but I don't think thats the issue, cause it's the same on my Nikkor 70-200 2.8 as well.

A friend of mine has the same setup, using 8xAA's and it's working for him...

Well if your positive your lens is compatible than you have a setting issue on the camera itself, its the only other thing. 2xAA's will give 8FPS with the right lens.

I have no idea, but I might reset the firmware...

Make sure you are in AF-C mode and that in custom settings menu (the pencil) you have menu item a1 set to "Release". And the bracketing trick you are talking about ignores auto focus. If you really want 8fps switch your lens to manual focus.

When you press the info button, how many FPS are shown in the lower left hand corner?

I don't see why the lens will matter and 8x AAs shouldn't be a problem either. Try setting it to manual focus, just in case its not set to release unless it has focus confirmation. Also make sure that ADL and the NR settings are turned off. I also think Auto ISO bumps it down to 7.5.

Turn off all image adjustments (vinjetcorrection) d-lightning, autoiso etc. Make sure that the BP-sign is shown in the upper window. Be sure the Left hand dial is turned to continous mode high.

I did turn off all image adjustments ( no result ) but there is no BP sign in my upper window. What does it mean and how can I turn it on? (if it's a setting issue)

Ofc I have continuous mode high.

I'm at 14bit RAW and at 8 FPS and I did not make any of the changes some have suggested to get the 8FPS.
