Hi All - It looks like I may have gotten a super soft copy of the Nikon Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S.
Currently, I'm renting the Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8 to see if I prefer that range over my 70-200mm.
I after taking some images with both lenses and zooming into 100%, I was shocked at how bad my 70-200mm Z was @ 200mm compared to the Tamron 35-150mm @ 150mm.
Both were shot wide open at f/2.8.
Are there any settings I need to adjust on the 70-200mm? Or is this something Nikon needs to service?
@sjms - Nope, didn't even know that was a thing! Completed the update just now
I had only known about camera body firmware updates until now.
I'm now aware that beyond the Cameras (C), the following can also have firmware updates from Nikon:
- Lenses (LF)
- Mount Adapters (MA)
- Teleconverters (TC)
- Remote Grips (RG)
- GPS (G) can have their own firmware updates
@sjms thank you from me as well, for reminding me of firmware updates on *lenses*. I had never updated my 70-200mm and it's my most used lens!
@jmreese thank you for starting this thread, and for mentioning the option of disabling the manual focus ring. I'm pretty sure my hand has also inadvertently moved it when photographing.
