p.1 #1 · Eizo CS2420 help with pink edges

My monitor has developed a pink tint (about 5-10mm wide) around the entire screen. It's not even 2 years old, and support is telling my they will probably have to replace the panel, and that's it's normal deterioration. They're also saying the 5-yr warranty doesn't cover color uniformity. So, they want $550 for a new panel, and another $110 for labor. Pretty PO'd at the moment, but I guess I am screwed?

I don't have my own photo with my at the moment, but I found this thread about iMacs, and it looks similar to what I'm seeing:

Most of the Eizos are warranted for 30,000 hours usage with the color/uniformity for 10,000 hours but that may vary between models. Check the usage time as shown in the Information section. Covids has killed my CGs color warranty rather quickly, though there are no issues with the panel so far.

p.1 #3 · Eizo CS2420 help with pink edges

Mine is a CS2420, and it looks like the warranty doesn't cover color, only body and panel. So, I guess if the panel totally crapped out, they would cover it, but for an issue like mine, they won't. Pretty disappointed in them. I've never had this happen to any monitor I've owned, and they've all been "cheap".

While I'm here, anyone want to recommend a new monitor? I'm thinking of going to 27", which means it'll be 16:9 instead of the 16:10 I have now. Also seems like going to QHD is a good idea due to the bigger screen. Now sure I really need 4K, and don't want to run into scaling issues. Plus, I game a bit on PC, and performance would probably take a hit at 4K.

I still feel that the 2560x1440 has a good pixel size for 27". I would go rather larger than 27" for 4K, but I use several older programs that would be nearly illegible at 4K on 27".

Thanks. I decided to get a 27" QHD screen. I think 4K is overkill for what I need at the moment, plus I game a little, so don't want to take a big performance hit.

As for the Eizo, I did find a few other reviews where the user had the same pink discoloration develop. Others complained that Eizo support was terrible, and I do agree. It's too bad because I might've bought one of their higher end screens one day, but no chance of that ever happening now.

Have you found any alternatives? One reason I use Eizo is the auto calibration, which seems to be lacking in many others.
