Canon EOS 5D

5d_586x225_2_
Review Date: Jul 23, 2007 Recommend? no | Price paid: $3,000.00 | Rating: 5

Pros: Full Frame, clear viewfinder, light
Cons:
Flimsy for this price tag. Built the same as 20D, 30D. Enormous amount of hot pixels.Dust magnet.

This camera just doesnít feel like $3000 photo device. Full frame is very good but itís not everything that can justify this price tag. Extremely expensive! The hot pixels show up at 400ISO and I find it extremely irritating even if it can be fixed in ACR or Lightroom. Why one should fix it when it shouldnít have happened in the first place?
The biggest problem here is the dust, very stubborn in comparison to my backup 30D. Itís like an oil drops that can be removed only at the service center. Some people recommend the wet swabs with alcohol or something ..As for me, I wouldnít mess with $3000 camera rubbing the sensor with some stuff like that.
Actually it came brand new from the store already full of dust inside.

Anyway I shipped it back to the store with no regrets.
I guess Iím going back to my Mark II

Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM

70-300_isusm
Review Date: Feb 3, 2006 Recommend? no | Price paid: $560.00 | Rating: 6

Pros: IS, IS, IS Nothing but IS
Cons:
looks cheap, made cheap. The front end is playing around. Blur at 300mm. $400 for IS, the rest for lens itself.

It's much better than 75-300 but the build quality is much much to be desired. The front element is rotating and moving around. But for money it's maybe a good deal, but you're actually paying $100-$150 for lens, the rest for IS.
Anyway, I sold it without any doubt. I find 70-200 f/4 is a superb in comparison to this one. If you want quality and IS , save money and get yourself 70-200 2.8 IS
