Tamron SP 35mm f/1.8 Di VC USD

Review Date: Nov 6, 2015 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $599.00 | Rating: 9

Pros: VC is great, Size and Weight, 6 Year US Warranty F/1.8
Not the sharpest wide open but not bad Not the fastest focus

This is just one more in a long list of available 35mm primes. It is the only 3rd party lens with image stabilization. The Canon 35 f/2 IS is the only other and the Tamron is slightly faster at 1.8.

Not as sharp as the Sigma 35 ART but neither is the new Canon 35 II. Priced less than the Sigma and about the same as the Canon f/2 IS but the Tamron has weather sealing.

Not a perfect lens but a good all around lens that checks a lot of boxes for my needs.

Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM

Review Date: Jan 14, 2013 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $2,049.00 | Rating: 9

Pros: Sharp from 2.8
Price, no IS

Really shocked at how sharp this is from 2.8. Even with my 35L which is sharp stopped down to 2.8 its not as sharp as the 24-70 II.

Much lighter and easier to handle than the last version besides the improved sharpness. Also like the zoom working the way it should now instead of the backwards way of its predecessor.

Canon EF 15mm f/2.8 Fisheye

Review Date: Dec 8, 2012 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $525.00 | Rating: 9

Pros: Sharp at f/2.8, not a strong fish eye effect relatively mild even on FF. Well built but small enough to take everywhere.
Focus a little noisy and no USM

Purchased this used as no longer made. Really impressed with how sharp it is wide open and the MFD is great when you want to accentuate the fish eye effect.
