Canon EF 35mm f/2

Review Date: Oct 28, 2005 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $230.00 | Rating: 9

Pros: Sharp, fast, great colors, very light, positively tiny.
Cons:
Not quite the same matte black color as my 350D. Really, though, none so far.

I got this lens for my Rebel XT as a standard 50mm eqivalent. Makes the XT look like a snub-nosed 38. It's a fantastic lens for the money—very clear, contrasty and great in low light. It's also a great focal length for 1.6 FOVC cameras, about as close as you can get to the gold standard 50mm.

It's a bit buzzy, sure, but it's not a bad sound. Reminds me of a robot. Focus ring isn't perfectly smooth in MF. Keep in mind that I'm being really persnikety. Overall, it's a fantastic lens and I think it's going to stay on my camera for a while.

Next purchase is probably going to be the EF-S 17-85mm f.4-5.6 IS USM. . . Unless Canon makes a 17-85mm f/2.8 IS USM. . . Please. . .
