If you're buying this, you surely have certain expectations for a $165 lens. It's true that its plastic, the manual focus ring sucks, it isn't durable, and it makes you look like an amateur. So what? The image quality is awesome for the money. Very sharp, and the IS works so so well, completely silently. I upgraded to this from a 17-85 and couldn't be happier.
