This lens is as sharp as any of my "L" glass zooms and covers a zoom range at f/4 that Canon does not.

Cons:

Lens flares badly at f/4 with strong backlighting. My Canon zooms do a much better job of controlling flare.

I would not hesitate to buy this lens. An excellent value for the money.
