My copy is quite sharp even wide open, USM very fast on my 300D, IS, lens hood is good despite other reviews (maybe a little flimsy but it gets the job done,) this lens also attracts a lot of unwanted attention!

Heavy, haven't gotten used to the push-pull yet.

Despite many reviews, my copy is quite sharp and contrasty. The build quality is great but it is quite heavy jsut make sure you carry a monopod. I bought it over the 80-400mm sigma because of the USM. I'm not sorry I made that decision.
