Pros:
|
Light weight, good contrast (but not L contrast), Sharp from f1.6/1.8 and smaller, good AF response, good value for the price
|
|
Cons:
|
Soft wide open, build quality seem fragile, no full-time manual focus

There's not many lenses that performs top-notch when wide open, especially faster prime lenses. With some exceptions, but you have to pay for those.
This lens is a good value lens. The optical quality is good, but the price is compensated by the not so good build quality.
the out of focus part is quite pleasing, and the light weight makes it a good walk-around prime lens. In my opinion the best non-L 50mm prime from Canon. (can't say anything about the 50L's as I have not tried one)

Pros:

Sweet bookeh, f1.4, nice color/contrast and sharpness!

|
Cons:
|
Build quality isn't as good as other L's but still solid. Paid pretty much for a used one (but I live in Norway). So the lens is quite expensive.

The build quality could be better for this price. Therefor It doesn't score 10 in my book.
However, there are no complaints in regards to the images it produces and the possibilities you get with a fast prime.

Cons:

Weight, Small LCD screen and Dust

It's "old" technology but still performs and takes pictures the way it should. The image quality is superb! It would have been perfect if the camera wasn't so heavy.
