Pros: well built, weather sealed, good focal length range, 'macro' focus distance isn't bad, good bokeh, sharpness, fast accurate focus, colours and saturation... its what you'd expect from an L lens!
barrel or pincushion distortion (neither are THAT bad though), CA on the wide end

This lens is amazing. If you've only used non-L lenses up until this (like myself...), it will blow you away. the sharpness still amazes me after 3 months, and its just a joy to use compared to other lenses i've had. the focal length range is extremely useful for everything, and its generally a great workhorse as long as you don't mind minor barrel or pincushion distortion (it does both, barrel at the wide end or pincushion at the narrow), or can correct it. There's also some CA but its easily dealt with using photoshop's RAW settings interface.

I don't think, considering my current needs, that i'll be buying any more lenses for a while. Except a wider-angle prime. 24mm isn't quite wide enough for me. but thats my fault, not the lense's.
