Pros: Fantastic Quality, Good Range, IS
Cons:
None

I Have just bought this lens to complete my line up of Lenses. This is a great lens to use on a everyday level. It has a great build quality, and produces some fantastically sharp images. I use it on a crop body, so not as wide as I would like, but it does mean that if/when I upgrade to a FF body, I do not need to change my lenses. The IS really works well and I do not find it to draining on my batteries. I complement to lens with my 17-40 L lens and find the 2 cover just about all my needs. Highly recommened

Pros: Good portrait lens and price
Cons:
Heavy and dubious quality control

This is the second copy of this lens. The first was very soft and was sent back and replaced. The second version is very good with nice sharp images. The f2.8 accross the zoom range is very useful and I use it for my portrait shots. It is a little heavy and the unusual AF/MF takes a little getting use to.

My biggest problem is not with my lens, but with Sigma's quality control as this is the second sigma lens I have had to exchage due to soft images. However when you do get a good one, they take a lot of beating for the price.

Pros: Very Quick and Quiet, with a good range. I.S. is very useful. Hasn`t been of my camera
Cons:
A bit Expensive, but nothing else in this range comes close

I bought this lens to replace the 18-55 that came with my 300D. I thought I would use it until I could afford a "L" series with a similar range. After nearly 8 months of use I think I will keep the lens and save up for a 20D instead. This lens always gives me clear sharp pics and is very quiet and quick. It has so many uses, with the Macro facility, that whilst, not up to a dedicated Macro is a welcome addition on this lens. The price is a little steep, but where else are you going to get a 17-85 lens with image stabiliation from?

P.S. Price is in UK pounds
