Zeiss 21mm f/2.8 Distagon T*

21mm
Review Date: Feb 6, 2011 Recommend? yes | Price paid: Not Indicated | Rating: 10

Pros: sharpness , build quality, smooth focus ring, color, contrast
Cons:
well sometimes I wish it was 18mm at least.

I used to fear manual lenses as I thought it as hard to focus, but with the confirming sound and little practice its so easy to use. this lens is a joy to use, the focus ring is so smooth you feel the build quality when you turn it. this thing is build from metal all over it no plastic anywhere. highly recommended.

Pros: Sharper than some primes, New IS system, Perfect in all other aspects
Cons:
Weight, but manageable.

I had 70-200 f4 IS, it was sharp but having f4 isn't so exciting like f2.8 you get nice bokeh. Also it take 1.4 tc very well, you really can't see any difference with and without. And heard It take the 2x in a good matter but didn't try it because I don't own it.

Pros: WOW what a camera, the still quality so amazing, the video incredible, light weight, the best camera by far.
Cons:
not really a negative but rather suggestion, i think build quality should be improved. faster fps 3.9 isnt enough, it should be at least 5.

this camera has alot of features, but the most amazing is video. especially if you have nice L lenses, with high aperture you can shoot video with bokeh something you dream to get without very expensive video gear. man when you see a portrait shot in video and the background is in bokeh, this by it self is worth it for me.

the image quality is beyond excellent, i saw images from Nikon by the best cameras, this is much better. yes Nikon beat Canon in build quality and features compared to price. but when it come to image quality nothing can beat the new 5D.

many of my L lenses didnt do good with canon 30D, but with this camera all of them are incredibly different. especially wide lenses like the 24-105 at 24mm used to suck with the 30D now is much better, i really dont know why.

i highly recommend this camera, if you love photography dont think just go get one.

Pros: Everthing, sharp images handheld, light
Cons:
nothing

i was wondering like everyone about the 100-400, 300f4 IS, 400f5.6. when i saw the images of the primes and the zoom i said to my self there is noway i am getting that zoom. because all i care about is image quality even if the zoom is easier to use. the 400 f5.6 is so amazing too yes it doesnt have IS but who cares use tripod and the best thing about it is the fast focus, even faster than the 300f4 which is nice for moving objects like flying birds. now the 300f4 is so amazing, i want to Everglades national park and i forgot to turn on the IS and i got very sharp images. but my advise is always use tripod for max sharpness for all ranges.

i am not professional. primes arent hard to use at all, these photos are taken after i receive the 300 in one day. so i dont have experience in using it and its my first time using 300. i longest was 100 for me so its easy to use and alot of fun.
