Canon EF 200mm f/2.8L II USM

Review Date: Feb 6, 2009 Recommend? yes | Price paid: Not Indicated | Rating: 10

Pros: Silly sharp, incredible colors and contrast, its black.

I've got the version I with the built in hood, which I love. It was made in '95 and it looks like its brand new!!

This is the first lens I've used that really blew me away and I've used many Canon primes and L's. The bokeh, colors, contrast and sharpness are simply amazing, even wide open. This lens is simply incredible. I'm now dreaming of the 135L.

Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM

Review Date: Oct 1, 2007 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $400.00 | Rating: 10

Pros: Light-weight, USM, great FL

Definitely one of my best lens purchases.

The only drawback to this lens that I can think of if the small working distance if you shoot alot of bugs. I use it primarily for flowers and portraits and its great for this purpose.

The lens is so small and portable. Excellent build quality. Wonderful bokeh. What's not to like?

Canon EF 28-105 F/3.5-4.5 II USM

Review Date: Sep 27, 2007 Recommend? yes | Price paid: Not Indicated | Rating: 2

Pros: USM, colors
Very dissapointing sharpness, minimum focus distance, not wide enough on crop sensor.

I purchased this lens after reading so many glowing reviews about it.

I was very dissapointed by the sharpness. My kit lens was sharper, much sharper!!

Here's the proof: both lens wide open, tripod mounted, MLU, no PP, 100% crop.....

28-105 at 50mm f/4.0

Kit lens at 50mm f/5.6

Two other things that annoyed me about this lens: poor minimum focus distance and not nearly wide enough on a crop sensor for a "walk-around" lens, at least for me.
