The person who gave this glass a rating of '3' below must have got a defective lens or does not know what he is talking about. This lens is very good, very sharp throughout the range apart from the last 30mm on the long end (but sharpness is good enough even there). Can be handheld easily thanks to VR. Much better than Canon counterpart which I also used to own.
