This lens was made for the aps-c 1.6x crop cameras. Not perfect wide open, but stopped down a bit easily matches the sensor resolution. IS is unbelievable, you really don't realize how much camera shake can affect your pic's until you begin using a non-IS lens. I can take pictures at night and still have 35-50% chance of decent outcome.
Overall, great lens for rebel/xt, 20d. You can pixel peep all you want, but to get the range of this lens you would need several lenses and if you want L-quality, well, you're going to be spending an extra $2000+ .
I have no regrets getting this lens, don't have to worry about qc control and focus issues of 3rd party 28-75's. 5x zoom range 17mm and 85 mm ends comes in very handy.
