Canon EF 200mm f/2.8L II USM

Review Date: Dec 23, 2012 Recommend? yes | Price paid: Not Indicated | Rating: 10

Pros: Fast and accurate focusing. Sharp wide open, not white.
Cons:
None

Have been using this lens from the start of the summer til now.

Have used it indoors taking sports pics, and outdoor / indoor for long wedding shots.

This lens completey blows away my canon 'L' zooms. Cannot find one single fault.

This will be the start of my conversion to primes from zooms.

Sigma 100-300mm f4 EX IF HSM APO

Pros: Zoom range. HSM. Build quality. Finish.
Cons:
None.

I've had the Sigma 70-200 f2.8 Mk II, for the last 16 months, this was both fast and reliable in focusing, but not sharp wide open, a lot better at f4.

Replaced my 70-200 with this, the Sigma 100-300, based on reviews, as this focal length suits me better.

Wide open at f4, this lens kicks the A!*e of my 70-200. At all focal lengths the images are crisp, focusing is fast and silent and no signs of the dreaded front focusing.

This lens is slightly heavier about 100g, but the weight is more evenly distributed, and the lens feels well balanced on my 40D.

Bottom line, I would recommend this lens, but be sure to test well beforehand, thankfully I have an honest local camera shop who weed out the bad ones, rather than sell them.

Sigma 150mm f2.8 APO Macro DG EX HSM

Review Date: Jul 23, 2009 Recommend? yes | Price paid: Not Indicated | Rating: 10

Pros: Excellent performance. No distortion or CA. Image quality is pin sharp. AF is fast and quiet (for those who use AF on macro).
Cons:
None.

This lens is outstanding. The image quality is nothing short of breath taking. No signs of any distortion or CA, crystal clear pin sharp images every shot.

The 3 position focus limit switch, works a treat and proves more than useful in AF (although I use it in Manual 99% of the time)

Works well with 1.4x teleconveter, although minimum focus distance is increased to .52m, then thats not a problem at 210mm.

The Bokeh is very pleasing indeed, especially so at f/2.8

I cannot praise this lens enough, if you are thinking of a macro lens, do not settle for anything else, this IS the best.

Pros: Built like a tank. Excellent all round performance. IQ. Price
Cons:
None

Have been using this lens, for almost a year now, and it still never fails to impress me.

The build qualitity is great, good robust feel, well finished, silent and smooth operation. Better build IMHO than any other wide angle lens out there.

I have used this lens in all weather and light conditions, no problem with hunting or CA. The IQ has been consistantly good.

If you are thinking of getting a wide angle, please do not dismiss this lens. Yes some have a wider field of view, but generally the 2mm is not missed. I have not had any situation where it has not been wide enough for my uses.

Pros: Build quality is fantastic. Works in all light conditions. Super performance.
Cons:
None

I took a long time in choosing which wide angle lens to purchase. I have no doubt in my mind, that I made the right choice.
This lens is build like a Tank! Fanrastic feel to it.
Yes it may be a little on the heavy side, but it has a constant aperture, is very sharp and generally a great lens to own and a pleasure to use.
