price when I first looked at one was 1000.00 and have went up quite a bit after the 300D came out.

Wish I had bought this first. I had bought a Bigma but the weight was just too much. The sharpness and IS make this a fabulous lens. Great range. I like the push pull and tightness ring. With extension tubes it makes a great macro workable lens. It is very quiet and focuses very fast. Definitely a keeper. Most used lens in my bag. Color kind of freaks people out.
