Pros:
Great ergonomics & buildquality, nice high ISO IQ, highly customizeable, all in all made for the photographer
Cons:
ISO switch and using the viewfinder at the same time feels complicated

I switched from Canon after beeing a Canonist for about 8 Years. The D700 feels very balanced in every way. I really like the ability to adjust the most important preferences without using the menu (like exposure and autofocus). All buttons are easily to operate even when wearing gloves.
The camera is very well build, feels like a solid brick except of the build-in flash unit.
Imagequality and High-ISO is very nice, high ISO noise looks more like filmgrain.
12 MP is enough for my purposes.
All in all I should have switched earlier. This camera should serve me for years.
