Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 EX APO IF HSM

Review Date: Apr 30, 2004 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $613.00 | Rating: 10

Pros: Price, quick focus, sharp colorful and contrasty photos, lightweight for it's size
Haven't found any

I was leary about getting this lens. Once it was delivered I quickly put it to use and haven't looked back. Great sharp contrasty photos. Works very well in low light. When used for concert photography I've gotten some beautiful results with this lens especially at f2.8. Sharp at both ends of the aperture. The autofocus is fast and quiet... the focus and zoom rings are smooth.

Downside, you get an incorrect focal length reading on a 10D. However I attribute this to firware updates as this began after the last firmware update to the camera. It doesn't affect the quality of the photo, so it's not a concern for me.

All in all a great lens, and one that fits into a tight budget very well.

Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II

Pros: Cost, weight, size, sharp and contrasty, great Bokeh

Don't let the low price tag, or it's plastic build fool you... this is a must have lens. It's small and lightweight, but takes gorgeous photos that are sharp and contrasty. Great lens for portraits, and exceptional for concert photography.

Two thumbs up!!!

Pros: size, weight, fast focus, sharp and contrasty - excellent!

Excellent lens to use if you are shooting indoor concerts. Exceptional lens for low-cost. If this lens is not in your bag, you'll want to give it a try.

Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 EX Aspherical DG DF

Pros: Price, solid, sharp
Filter size is a whopping 82mm

After much thought, I decided to get this lens. I was sort of antsy wondering if I had made the right decision. When the lens arrived I put to use immediately and realized I had made the right decision.

The lens takes very sharp photos, even wide open. Colors are fabulous. It's a little bulky in size, but that's not a bother to me. It has a "durable" feel to it. Because of it's size you cannot use the built in flash - then again I never use the built in flash.

The AF does hunt a lot under low lighting... and the AF is pretty noisy, but that's all secondary to me compared to the quality of shots I get.

Overall, for the price you can beat it. I'm glad I chose this lens and am very happy with it's performance.
