Great optics and very sharp at all focal lengths; decent bokeh.

HEAVY and the hood is clumsy.

I can just barely handhold this lens; mostly I use it on a tripod after I get tired of handholding strain. Even when I buy the Canon 100-400 L IS, I won't be getting rid of this lens because I like it that much.
