Pros:

Macro, fairly light for its fl range
Cons:
not internal focus so it can be a bit awkward, also sometimes has trouble locking focus, though this may just be my particular lens camera combo.

a good lens. I mostly use it for macro and as a lightweight tele. I use an f/2.8 when shooting serious tele stuff.

Pros:
cheap especially for an f/2.8, light, good focal range to be a workhorse lens
Cons:
very frustrating lens hood. You have to flip it around (as sigma often does) to put it on and you can't use the lens without doing this because it blocks the zoom ring when stored. Also when the hood is on you can't take off and remove the lens cap easily. also, it feels cheaply made and may not be perfectly sharp or fast to focus....but its so inexpensive.

despite the size of my negatives paragraphs, I really do like this lens and recommend it, so long as you want to use it situations where fast lens changes and fast focusing aren't needed.

Pros:

HSM and IF is nice. The focus is fast and accurate: great for sports
Cons:
very heavy, but what did you expect. Tripod or monopod all but required.

I really like this lens. I have used it on a rebel xt and a 5D to shoot sports. The one real downside is that because its so big, heavy and expensive I find I am unlikely to take it with me unless I am sure I will want to use it.
