ef70_200_4_1_
Review Date: May 27, 2003 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $550.00 | Rating: 10

Pros: Sharpest zoom in this range in all focal lengths. comparible to primes! light weight and compact.
Cons:
No IS version.

Put a IS on it and this lens will be a true killer.

Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM

Review Date: May 27, 2003 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $1,650.00 | Rating: 8

Pros: IS, IS, IS !!! Very sharp at around 135mm even wide open, or from f4.5 or smaller apertures
Cons:
a bit soft wide open at both end, definitely not comparable to primes. heavy and big!

Optical performance of its 135mm is comparible to the 135mm/2. The IS enable me to take a reasonable clear shot at 1/30s and 400mm (Kenko pro300 2XTC).

Review Date: May 27, 2003 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $300.00 | Rating: 8

Pros: fast focusing sharp and contrasty, but not as good as 50/1.4 focusing accuracy is even better than 50/1.4
Cons:
my piece gethered quite a lot of dusts in the lens afer a few times uses.

excellent applicaion for snapshots of children/kids with 10D, even in low light.

Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM

Review Date: May 27, 2003 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $300.00 | Rating: 10

Pros: sharp and constrasty compact
Cons:
a bit slow and noisy AF. quite filmsy feel near the af/m button. flare

I move from 50/1.8 and note this 50/1.4 to be much more accuracy in focusing, especially in large apertures. Canon should have supply the hood with this lens.

Canon EF 135mm f/2L USM

Review Date: May 27, 2003 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $770.00 | Rating: 10

Pros: Sharp and contrasty. Excellent handling and balance with 10D
Cons:
Nothing. Just a bit long on the 10D. Looking forward to using this lens in a full frame DSLR.

I noted that the "MKI", older products with hard case, is a bit warmer than the recent "MKII".

Review Date: May 22, 2003 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $200.00 | Rating: 10

Pros: Sharp and contrasty optics in compact size.
Cons:
no FTM.

Best price/performance next to the 50/1.8II. Makes a good standard lens on the 1.6X cropped D60/10D.
