Sigma 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 DC Macro OS HSM "C"

Review Date: Jun 28, 2017 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $399.00 | Rating: 9

Pros: Sharpness and contrast much better than anticipated for this level lens
Hunts sometimes in focusing

I bought this on sale for my A6000 when I found out it is compatible with the MC-11 adapter for Sony. Not an Art lens but more than adequate to take acceptable photos. I got it for a lightweight travel/hiking setup and for family snapshots when I do not need my A7R2 or Canon 5D2. I have not tried on my SL1 body yet.

Canon EOS Rebel SL1 DSLR Camera

Review Date: Dec 19, 2014 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $359.00 | Rating: 10

Pros: Small, light and full featured. Can use all my EF lenses on it.
None so far

I bought this refurbished, on sale from Canon, for my GF to use a decent camera when we go hiking. This is a Rebel. No question about that. It is not as good as my 70D or 5D2 or my Oly EM-10 for that matter. But for what it is, it is great. A tiny ultra-light, pocketable (with my pancake lens) large sensor high quality point and shoot substitute.
Love it so far.

Canon EF 24mm f/2.8 IS USM

Review Date: Mar 14, 2013 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $649.00 | Rating: 10

Pros: Sharp even wide open, USM, IS, 58mm filter size so it is compact
No included hood at this price

I bought this for landscape as my 24-105mm is lacking in sharpness in the corners. This lens delivers. Many are complaining about the price. I agree at $849 it is overpriced but with rebates and discounts I got it for $649 and that is fair for this quality. I could not justify $1500 for the f/1.4. The dxomark score for this lens on a 5D2 is 26 compared to the f/1.4 score of 28.
