I have had this lens for over a year now. The image quality is outstanding. I've never seen better. Is quite easy to handhold. The IS is very helpful. Amazing to take out and come back with shots that are all winners (well maybe not ALL, but most). I use it for portrait, wildlife, airshows, sports, and just for fun. It's big and hard to hide when you're in public. But man it's fun to shoot with!!!

I have used to Markins ballhead for approximately 6 months. I am very pleased. It holds everything in place like it should. It's easy to use. It never locks up. I've used it with the Wimberly sidekick smoothly with 300/2.8L and it works great. It has helped improve my photography dramatically. Highly recommended.

This is a spectacular lens. Having used zoom lenses most of my life, I enjoyed and was challenged by using a prime lens. This lens is wonderful to use. I keep it on my camera for day-to-day shooting, most situations. Although I am comfortable using a flash, this lens lets me shoot without a flash in many situations and I can get great results. Extremely bright image in the viewfinder makes focusing easy.
I know many people have said this before and it sounds like a cliché, but my zoom lens is now gathering dust. I like shooting with this lens so much. Highly recommended.
