Pros:

extremely versatile focal range, sharp (yep, that's right), IS, push-pull allows for fast framing of moving subjects, best bang for the buck

Cons:

the near-far switch is painful (remembering it's on is painful, also being similar to the af/mf switch and placed somewhere not easy to be quickly reached makes it even more painful) , the lens hood could use a latch to lock it in place, some lenses' plastic baffle ring inside the lens come unglued (cheap glue) - i have seen this happen on two different lenses bought 4 yrs apart
