Is a good lens but not great, it can be better if it is F2.8
I prefer to have more ability to stop action than ability to handhold lower speeds. Essentially, both measures prevent blurry shots. I think that having the 2.8 and being able to increase the shutter speed is significantly more useful than being able to handhold longer exposures. Seems to me that with the 2.8, you have a better chance of stopping action, which most of the time is what we want to do anyway.

pull and push systerm

Slow in focusing, i hate pull and push, compare with my 70-200. this is a junk

Pros: Very sharp & very fast.
Cons:
A bit expensive, IS added will be better

2.8 beats IS, when shooting in low light condition.
yes, IS will freeze your camera to prevent it from shaking. but it doesnt stop objects from moving..
anything slower than 1/15 will cause blurry image because people do move, so, 2.8 is still king if compare with 24-105

What a super lens!!!
this is a must have lens for every event shooters.
very sharp even wide open.
if you add on the 2x converter, it perform at its best at F9
