I've used many different telephotos over the years and replaced my 600mm F4IS with this lens while holding on to my 500mm F4 and 300mm F2.8. This is without question the best supertele I've ever used. Extremely sharp with great IS that I've been able to handhold effectively down to 1/60th.
The lens is very well balanced, much better than the 600mm and handles very well. The weight reduction is much appreciated and after replacing the lens foot with a 4th Generation design foot the lens is practically as light as my 500mm. Tripod collar design is much improved and the lens roatates much smoother than the 600mm, 500mm etc. I've also noticed this lens focuses faster with all my cameras that the 600mm did. A simply stunning lens............
