Canon TS-E 17mm f/4L

17tse
Review Date: May 23, 2011 Recommend? yes | Price paid: Not Indicated | Rating: 9

Pros: rotate 180 degree in 2 way, sharp sharp sharp, 17mm
Cons:
no filter or any option filter holder .

I have had 17-40L, 16-35L ii, S 12-14mm...
This 17mm L far batter than above lens for the sharpness and color contrast especially in crop

I keep it in 9 because Lens design can't mount any filter .
This is one of important reason when day time with strong sun lights if i can't mount any filter for shoot any building or water move.

I prefer TSE24mm L II (auto pano easy nowadays)

Here with some image (just a few shot)

Love tilt shift ,will look forward to the 45mm and 90mm upgrade.

Sigma 50mm F1.4 EX DG HSM

sigma50-14jpg
Review Date: Dec 20, 2010 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $431.00 | Rating: 8

Pros: sharp at 2.8 ,New version design for hood and body build good,Bokeh.
Cons:
F16 only,HSM squeak, some CA wider open in between f1.4-2.0,a bit soft wide open

Bought this lens in last months and this review base on i have 35mmf1.4, 50mm f1.2, 24mm f1.4II and 85L II to compare with sigma 50mm.

Focus:
no focus shift compare with 50mm L stop range f1.4 to2.8(luck),but squeak when focusing, this 50mm version is made with new material body and hood(nice)

color contrast:Not much better compare with 85L II and 24L II,a bit look like a 35mm L but better than 50mm f1.8

CA :Stong CA at f1.4 when shooting some high contrast subject (like shooting letters on computer keyboard with black bg and white word on key)but 24mmL almost the same

Sharpness : sharp at f2.8 compare with 24-70mm f2.8 L.

Some review notice this lens heavy but for me is not even 85L II.
S50 boken is nice but the 50mm f1.2L have better creamy and good color contrast boken.

Here with some image shooting by this S50mm.

Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM

ef70-200lisiiu_586x225
Review Date: Jul 2, 2010 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $2,480.00 | Rating: 9

Pros: fast focus, Super IS
Cons:
image not surprise in 85mm compare with 85L II in f2.8

The image still have alot of room to improve ,but that is the best quality in this range from CANON .

If i 'm not using for work like event and wedding party, i won't buy this becasue this is not my range .

I prefer 100-400 instead for the same heavy lens.

The image very sharp when even handheld ,the IS work amazing .
But the colors contrast are not better than 100L and 16-35L II

The colors style not look like as new design LENS as: 24L II, 85L II,100L's i had.
I can say the tone of colors same as 35L but a tele lens.

If you think the version 1 not sharp enough with IS,then u can think about this, if u want a better "color" contrast like those prime's or the version 1....sorry, keep the old one and chioce some others..

Canon EF 24mm f/1.4L II USM

EF24_14LII
Review Date: May 24, 2010 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $1,600.00 | Rating: 9

Pros: f1.4, color contrast, sharp inf1.4 ,
Cons:
price

I had have 35L ,50 1.2L, 85LII ,17-40L ,100L...

The 24LII color and contrast as same as 85L II
Very sharp lens and great bokeh.
The taste are not same as 35L ...35L is a wonderful lens too.
24L II close to the 100L and 85L tone of colors

Love it in my 5DII and 1D3.

Canon EOS 5D Mark II

5DII_1_
Review Date: May 24, 2010 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $2,400.00 | Rating: 8

Pros: 21Mpixels, FF, LCD screen, High ISO perform.
Cons:
view finder not pro(prefer D700 kind),CF card door sİuk ,AF

Bought from 2008 DEC for trade my 400D.
FF camera always my dream ,the pictures quality are wonderful ,specially with all L lens.

High ISO perform are supprise me all the time ,image are so good enough for me.

The AF just work as the center dot, the other 8 dots seem like faint they don't know what to do in low light even i put my 85L II or 24L II .

This is a joke about the CF card door .

Canon EOS 1D Mark III

1DmkIII
Review Date: May 23, 2010 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $2,400.00 | Rating: 9

Pros: 1.3x ,Pro body feel, 2 card slots, battery life,C n custom, 10fps
Cons:
10.1 Megapixel ?

I have 5DII and want to buy second backup body for any event, 7D or used MarkIII both in my list ,after read difference review ,I'm still not sure which body suit until i try the MARK III in the shop ,and then ....Ooo

When i hold back my 5DII seem like not much better feeling in my hand...
Seriously don't try any ID's.....
This is not about the number of ISO or quality ..noise whatever ......

The camera plug with the battery grip is far from the feeling with IDseries.
That why i never buy the battery grip for my 5DII

***** about AF
I have to send back to CANON for fix the AF, the problem is the CMOS are in-correct position and make any pictures not in sharp focus(not focus shift) .
After that ....now FIXED ... all are wonderful .

5D2 is my backup body now....

Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM

ef17-40_4l_1_
Review Date: Nov 16, 2009 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $800.00 | Rating: 9

Pros: reasonable price for the landscape range so far , good range
Cons:
same problem as 16-35mm L II but not expensive ,

I use this len almost a year now,before 17-40L i was own Sigma 10-20, 12-24 and canon 16-35L II.

I sold 16-35L II then buy the 17-40L ,because 16-35L anti flare(CA) is not my acceptable range and so expensive .

16-35mmL is the best color contrast in this 4 lens but the price are not reasonable in my thought.

For the landscape shot I'm still waiting the very good one as same as Nikon 14-24mm. hope.... will be release a real good wide angle LENS from CANON soon .

By now I may say this one is the best choice so far after i used those other 3 lens .

17-40L > 16-35mmL II > S 10-20, S 12-24.

some shot in my ablum

Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM

ef10028lmisu_586x225
Review Date: Nov 6, 2009 Recommend? yes | Price paid: Not Indicated | Rating: 10

Pros: fast focus , IS, good color like my 85L,
Cons:
price ??a very tiny sound come out when focus but not bother me...

finally canon had the macro IS release and i don't have the old version 100mm Macro, but i take the shoot before use the old one...

The new one give me the result as same as the good color as my 85L II
I use this 100L for portrait too.

the focus as fast as the 70-200mmL IS ,better than the 24-105mm
but have a tiny sound come out sometime ...don't know is it about the IS system..

need more energy from your battery compare with the 24-105 f4L when IS on ...u can feel it easy .(no need stop watch ) Smile

Overall the image quality is very impress me for the color and contrast.
