I had one before and sold it. i've regretted that ever since. Saw it on craigslist and jumped at the chance.
i've got a 17-35 2.8, that works well on my 5d. this is an equivalent for the T1i and 50d. great lens.

edit: last post i somehow mistook this being compatable with the 1.4 extender. that was my old 100-400. lack of caffeine...yeah, that was it.

works great, i really like the "one lens for most stuff" factor. a bit heavy, but i'm over that. works well w/ 1.4 II extender, also if i need more reach.

first "L" prime i've owned, sold my 100-400 after i got it. i never used the zoom aspect, so this is fine. fast focus and IQ made the choice easy.
interestingly enough, autofocus was permanently in the "ON" position (it would still AF when MF was selected) small screwdriver and some crazy glue to hold the microswitch to the switch slider cured that, though.
