Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM

ef_24-70_28u_1_
Review Date: Sep 25, 2007 Recommend? yes | Price paid: Not Indicated | Rating: 8

Pros: Get a sharp one and there is little to beat it in terms of flexibility, colour and overall performance.
Cons:
Lens hood enourmous and prone to getting knocked.

Now on my third and this one is great on my 5D. Punchy colours, fast focus and 24mm wide angle.

The hood is prone to being knocked and dislidged the end ring on mine (now repaired) so be careful. Try before you buy although 1dmkIII lens calibration may help with the 'copy' issues.

Canon EF 85mm f/1.2L II USM

Review Date: Sep 25, 2007 Recommend? yes | Price paid: Not Indicated | Rating: 9

Pros: Sharp, faster focus but still not quick!
Cons:
Not much of an improvement to the mark 1

Replaced my mark one with the mark 2. Still a great lens but only a bit quicker in terms of focus. Others think the mark 2 has better bokeh than the mark one but I haven't noticed any improvement. However, still a great, great lens.

Review Date: Mar 28, 2007 Recommend? yes | Price paid: Not Indicated | Rating: 10

Pros: Very Sharp, lovely colours and suprisingly fast focus for such an old model. Good with tele convertors too.
Cons:
Weight means monpod is essential for long sessions but you know that anyway and the price of this kind of quality

This lens really is exceptional. I'd read various reviews and took them a bit with a pinch of salt, but I take it back as this lens is outstanding in terms of colour, contrast, and sharpness. The drawback is that it may ruin you for other lenses!!
It is heavy, but then that's no surprise.
I'm in the UK and sourced this from Korea on Ebay. The duty and VAT made my eyes water a bit, so be warned!

Canon EF 135mm f/2L USM

Review Date: Mar 14, 2006 Recommend? yes | Price paid: Not Indicated | Rating: 9

Pros: Very sharp at all apertures, fast focusing, great value for money.
Cons:
None

Excellent lens.

I have used this for weddings, portraits with excellent results with 1.6 and 1.3 crop factors. I have also used the 85mm f1.2 and in my case get better results with this lens.

If there was a shaprness per rating this would be the best lens Canon make by some way.
