Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM

Review Date: Nov 18, 2003 Recommend? yes | Price paid: Not Indicated | Rating: 6

Pros: Price, IS, range
Zoom creep, Slow autofocus, extends when zooming and focusing, not as sharp as i'd like.

Considering the price and the range it is good value, having IS is a great bonus. This was not as sharp as i hoped for and it was soon replaced by a 70-200F4L and a soon to be added 1.4xTC.

Good lens for a starter but it will leave you wanting and expecting more!

Zoom creep is a big pain, especially with hood attached, goes very long and can get in way.

Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L USM

Pros: Weight, size, price
Um........... No IS???

This is my first piece of L glass and i am very impressed!!! Amazing contrast, quality and sharpness! Thsi was bought to replace my 75-300 IS and it does so very well.

This is always kept in my bag and i never leave without it, it's got the perfect balance of weigh and size!!!

This is one of canon's best bargains!!!

Canon EOS 10D

Review Date: Nov 18, 2003 Recommend? yes | Price paid: Not Indicated | Rating: 10

Pros: Price, 6.3mp chip, Image Quality, Build Quality, Good noise control, 9fps buffer, EF lens system, Ease of Use, 1.6crop - Sports, Wildlife, etc
Occasional AF accuracy, Canon FVU, 1.6crop - Landscape, people, etc

A significant improvement on the D60 and a great camera to use. One of canon's best camera's! If you are considering this over a d100 then just look at the lens lineup, i mean canon's EF system has one of the most comprehensive line up that can cover every shooting system!!! IS is a great big advantage to canon to!!!

The only think i dislike is the supplied raw conversion software, i find it very akward to use and lacking in features compared to other alternatives, eg. Capture 1 and Breezebrowser.

Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM

Review Date: Sep 5, 2003 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $350.00 | Rating: 10

Pros: Great starter lens, great range, IS is very handy, great when coupled with 10D in telephoto aspects.
Not so good at wideangle on 10D, slightly soft, doesnt use the 77mm filter that all the lens i am buying use. (I'm picking now)

Great starter lens, bought mine with my Eos 3 and it was great, tried it on my 10D and it was great too, overall the best starter lens in canon's range! This is my most used lens, well actually my only lens but i love it.

I feel it may be less used when the 24-70 2.8 L and 70-200 2.8 L IS are added to my bag but until then it'll be used all the time!!!

Buy it, you wont regret it unless you have the above mentioned lens's.
