Review Date: Dec 31, 2014 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $300.00 | Rating: 10

Pros: Fast (1.4!), Great bokeh, Excellent image quality, High quality to price, Auto Focus
Cons:
None!

I took the longest time to buy this lens for I did not think it would be worth $300. What a mistake! I love this lens.

It is fixed on my 5D and it is what I use for most of my pictures. I love the 50mm focal length, its just right. The image quality is excellent, and the bokeh is great! love the f/1.4.

Review Date: Dec 31, 2014 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $2,900.00 | Rating: 10

Pros: Incredible Auto Focus, build quality, excellent high ISO performance, picture quality and sharpness
Cons:
Price, AF Illumination Point hard to see in the dark, Image Zoom button

Love the camera! Very reliable and is a workhorse. It is finely crafted to address the needs of the modern photographer.

Incredible Auto Focus, build quality, excellent high ISO performance, picture quality and sharpness.

On the downside, do not like the black AF illumination, there is a lot of autofocus setting you need to go through to really understand what is the right setting for you and the lens your are using (not a bad thing but it can be complicated)

Noisy AF (macro), tiny focus ring, Bokeh very busy, hunts in low light

Excellent IQ. Very sharp. Great Colors. Highly recommended.

Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II

Review Date: Jul 5, 2013 Recommend? yes | Price paid: $100.00 | Rating: 8

Pros: Cheap, f1.8, fast, compact
Cons:
IQ, inconsistent AF

Very affordable, decent build, compact lens. I loved the compactness and the range but later realized you get what you pay for.

The major advantage is the f/1.8 but is seems inconsistent at f1.8
