Pros: Incredibly sharp, and great rendition and drawing of color. An amazing lens.
Cons:
None

This is my favorite portrait lens. Great for landscapes too. This is an amazing lens. Superb engineering, and easy to MF with the correct focusing screen installed.

Zeiss 50mm f/1.4 Planar T*

Review Date: Apr 3, 2010 Recommend? yes | Price paid: Not Indicated | Rating: 9

Pros: Great low light travel lens. I would compare wide open f1.4 to the 50L wide open. Neither are sharp but what lens is wide open. Once you get to f2 and above it is a lot sharper
Cons:
None

As a light travel lens that is MF, there is no comparison. Only other lens that would compare is the 50L which is much larger. Of course there is the sigma 50 f1.4. Great lens too, but does have AF issues, but has excellent rendition and sharpness.

When you take on a faster lens there a compromises wide open. This lens above f2 is great, but for low light, weight and portability...excellent lens.

Zeiss 21mm f/2.8 Distagon T*

Pros: Sharp and detailed, but beyond that is the amazing rendition of color and contrast. A very well engineered product.
Cons:
MF only if you do not have alternative focusing screen installed.

I recently resonated with the expression on how the lens "draws", a feeling that is unique, beyond the sharpness and detail that is normally focused in forums. This lens is amazing as it sees colors and bring them to life, in a landscape without the PP. I still have the 24L, but I find I'm exclusively using the ZE 21.

Great engineering, and accurate focusing mechanism. Although the lens is not light, it is compact.
