Canon EF 300mm f/4L IS USM

Pros: very very sharp, AF is quick enough for just about anything while using 7D
Cons:
IS is a bit noise at times, gave a 9/10 for build quality because of the lack of weather seals

I have had this lens for two years now and still love it!

I had (what I thought) was a problem, with soft images constantly. This until i replaced the UV filter with a Zeiss T UV filter. This lens is super sharp and lovely to use for just about any type of photography.

My father bought the 200mm F2.8 MK II two months ago and they are in a different ball park. But for the price you pay for the 300mm f4. It more than holds its own weight.

Combined with a 1.4 III it is also amazing. Found almost no problems with the IS being slower.

I have no problems with picking up this gem before any other lens. Unless the light is not permitting.

OVERALL: the focal distance is perfect for me, the image quality is perfect (sell on Getty), AF is fast enough to track birds in flight, and the IS is very welcoming on a long hike. I would recommend this lens to anyone!!

Pros: small, light, cheap
Cons:
cheap, plasticy

I got this lens over the past weekend from a family member who used it once four years ago and then put the camer (3000N) and lens away. it is in the best condiction you can get for a second hand lens. yes it is povity model, but the shots I have taken, it looks like a capable lens. it is not L glass but for something I got for free, it is a bargin...it is also a good start off lens as it falls in the all round focal length. I gave it to my girlfriend who just loves it!!!!! as with all of us who started, there will come a day when she will want to upgrade.

I found the 28-80 rather fast at auto focus, i ow a tokina 20-35, and this lens compairs.

this lens is perfect for her with her 20D as she is just starting out and it would not be cleaver to spend mega money on expensive bodies and lenses if not interested in photography.

I was ready to buy this lens second hand for R600.00

(I recommend this lens to people who are just starting out with photography and want to get a feel for it)

Pros: (I have the Mark 1) 1. Size 2. Quality of images 3. oes not draw attention at it is black
Cons:
non what so ever!

Got this lens for my 20th birthday. It is the single most amazing lens i have ever used. it is small and weight wise, next to nothing. and the image quality is amazing!!.
I use a 40D and with this lens I can take amazing shots, but with my fathers camera (7d) the images are out of this world. this lens is by far the best buy I have ever had. I got it for 2/3 of the price of a new mark 2 version. and IMO I saved on money and lost out on nothing. I prefer the slide out lens hood to the clip on lens hood, just because it is a pain having to try find a place for the hood in my bag when not in use.

Pros: 1.Sharp 2. Contrast 3.IS 4.light (relatively speacking)
Cons:

I recieved my Canon 300mm f4 L IS USM lens on the the 17th August this year.

it is amazing. And even though I have not used it for the main purpose for why I got it (wildlife), I have shot some amazing pics of my dogs, cats and just playing around with it.

cant wait till this weekend when I take it to northern farms.

I have been waiting for this lens for quite some time. now I just need to get the 1.4 TC and then I'm sorted for a long time.

I also own the 200mm 2.8 mark 1. and although this lens is my favorite, this lens is creeping ever so clode to it, just based on the quality of pictures. the 200mm 2.8 i love for the size and it does not draw attention as the 300mm does. (white lens).

Kruger next holiday will be amazing with these two lenses in my camera bag.
